The best diet for losing weight is Weight Watchers, according to the experts who rated the diets below for U.S. News. Biggest Loser, Jenny Craig and the raw food diet came in close behind. Other diets performed as well or better in enabling fast weight loss, but long-term weight loss is more important for your health.
If you want to lose weight, consider a different diet. The panelists gave the Acid Alkaline Diet slightly higher scores for short-term weight loss than long-term, but overall, suggested steering clear. “It is likely this diet will contribute to weight loss, but not because of the acid/alkaline effects,” one expert said. “This is not a weight loss diet.”
If weight loss is the goal, the Paleo diet will likely disappoint, in the judgment of our panel of experts. While they gave it slightly higher scores for short-term weight loss than for long-term, on the whole it was by far the least effective diet for weight loss of all those reviewed.
