Samuel Broder: Why Isn't There a Gardasil for Men?

There's an HPV vaccine for women; why don't men have one?

Gardisil for Boys

Update: In early Septemmber, the FDA's Vaccine & Related Products Advisory Committee recommended approval of Gardisil for boys & men for prevention of genital warts. Not enough data exists on prevention of cancer in males or reduction in transmission rates & new cases of HPV for a review of these uses for the vaccine. The FDA typically follows the recommendations of its ACs but is not required to do so.

So...what IS the answer?

Perhaps I missed something incredibly obvious, but I don't see where Broder answered the question at all. The only place he even comes close to addressing this is when he says, "What about the Gardasil vaccine for boys and young men? Indeed, recently, the vaccine manufacturer announced that it was seeking FDA approval to use Gardasil to prevent genital warts and related conditions in males ages 9 to 26. There is no a priori reason to think the genders would react differently. If females and males are immunized, one would expect a reciprocal benefit to the population at large."

But that doesn't answer the question. The article's title is: "Why Isn't There a Gardasil for Men?" and as far as I can tell, that question is never answered.

Gardasil does Kill

I would just like to say for those that have or have had cervical cancer you speak of being alive. We in our family are "ONE LESS" because of Gardasil. We lost our very healthy, smart, beautiful, fun loving Jessie, two days after her third shot of this so call wonder vaccine. For those who think there have not been any death from Gardasil I beg to differ with you. There have been 48 deaths just in the U.S. that we know of. Since the CDC's VAERS (vaccine adverse event reporting system) is a national, voluntary, passive, surveillance system. It is not mandatory for doctor's to report any adverse effects or even deaths caused by any vaccine. If the parents do not put two and two together that their daughter has been effected, it will not get reported. Think of how many out there do not know. Statistics are showing that only 1 - 10% are ever reported because they did not know. For the mothers that have their daughters vaccinated because they feel they are doing the right thing. My daughter thought she was doing the right thing. Lisa came home from work to find her best friend, her daughter dead on the floor. That is why we are speaking out against Gardasil. We and many others like us do not want this nightmare to happened to other families. Please do your research before having your daughters vaccinated with Merck's vaccine that is for a virus HPV That could, let me say again, COULD, NOT WOULD cause cervical cancer. This is not an epidemic. Why are they treating it as if it is. Don't be fooled by the commercials. A grandmother who knows.

Because There's Little Justification

Boys won't be given the HPV vaccine because there's no justification for it, and because if they get the same symptoms the girls are getting it won't be as easy to dismiss.

In the U.S., about 12,000 women a year get cervical cancer, and less than 4,000 of them die from it. That's an extremely small percentage of the population. Almost all HPV infections go away on their own and cause no harm. Virtually all cervical cancer can be prevented with regular pap smears. Yet, if Gardasil becomes more widespread, the number of girls and women harmed by the vaccine may exceed the number of women who get cervical cancer (if it hasn't already).

From a survivor's perspective

As a survivor of cervical cancer, if I could have had the vaccine prior to my diagnosis, I would gladly have taken it and then some. HPV isn't something that simply goes away. HPV is a life-long condition that can stay dormant in your system for a VERY long time. Long after the cancer has been cut out and the internal wounds heal, HPV stays with you. It causes ongoing medicallly-necessitated mutilation of your female reproductive parts, with many of us having repeat surgeries, biopsies, testing, gyno exams and subjecting us to a lifetime of being picked apart piece by tiny piece in order to save our lives. So if you ask me, the vaccine is a GREAT thing. Yes, do some people have side effects, of course. That happens with all medications and vaccines. Should certain people not get the vaccine, of course, and their doctor's should know hwo these people are. Having POS doesn't make you a good candidate for the vaccine. neither does being pregnant. Any responsible doctor would check their patient's health before injecting them with even the most harmless drug. However, condeming this vaccine and the good it brings to a vast majority of those who have received is wrong. There have been no miscarriages, no deaths or anything else that can be medically linked to direct receipt of the vaccine. In fact, out of the VERY few who actually have had side effects, there has always been an underlying condition that brought about the resulting injury or death. More than 99 percent of all side effects from the vaccine have been pain at injection site, fainting and a feeling of warmth.

While my heart goes out to theswe young women, I can't imagine the affect removing this vaccine would have on the reproductive futures of the younger generations. 6.2 million Americans are diagnosed with HPV each year, many never knowing they had contracted it go on to spread the disease.

HPV detroys families, lives and marriages. It makes trust and itimacy a very difficult thing, and if not caught early enough, destroys fertility. Not to mention, it KILLS. So before you go waging war against the vaccine, walk a mile in a survivor's shoes. I have been cancer-free for more than 10 years and got the devastating news that I am once again HPV positive and may end up losing my entire reporductive system to a disease I thought I beat 10 years ago. The sda thing is, you never know when it will come back and what it will take with it as it wages war on your body. All it takes is some stress and a dip in your immune system and your are on your way to cancer. Whether it be cervical, anal, penile, vaginal, vulvular, head, neck or throat cancer. HPV is indiscriminant.

So while I feel for people who have had adverse reactions, I fear what we would face in the future should HPV, which really fits the global definition of what a pandameic disease is, ever takes root in coming generations.

Gardasil is a GMO

This is a public experiment on the world. This poison is being hailed as an anti-cancer vaccine with no proof that it actually does do what we were told it would do. Merck admits this themselves. Why is it so expensive..Vioxx..Gardasil was fast-tracked through the FDA and is injuring thousands of girls. GMO's have been banned in many countries. Merck knows that this is a dangerous experiment. This is why they chose an aluminum placebo instead of saline.

My daughters health has been in serious decline since she received her gardasil injections. Within hours she was vomiting, feverish with a terrible headache. She could not get out of bed for almost 3 weeks. I called the doctor regarding her illness she said she must have received a bad flu shot. She was vaccinated with gardasil at the same time as the flu vaccine. She now passes out with any exertion, a simple walk will put her out. She suffers from weakness in her both legs. Soon after the second shot she was crying because her feet were hurting she was diagnosed later with periphreal neuropathy. She could barely walk and was put in 2 com casts to keep her feet from hurting. She also is experiencing more then 4 migraines a month now. She did have continual migraines for almost months before they started to taper off. She was diagnosed at the age of 12 with Poly Cystic Ovary syndrome. The doctor prescribed birth control pills so she would not constantly have her period. The pill was to regulate her because the bleeding was terrible. We no longer have that problem because she has not had a period since her first vaccination in November of 2007. I am sending a list of the symptoms that my daughter has had or is currently suffering from. In the last 2 months she has been to the ER from passing out and losing the ability to use her legs twice. Followed by a 3 day migraine. I attribute these bizarre symptoms and her illness to the gardasil vaccine. This is a human experiment on our daughters and they have been injured. I don’t want any other mother to go through what the gardasil mothers are going through.

Have you ever done or READ any research on the effects of aluminum and other metals in the body? It's what causes cancer and other ailments. Have you searched on google for HM74A - WHO paper by pharma company? They know why we're all sick! They're making us sick and must be paying you to write articles like this one. So ... try the HPV yourself and we'll follow you status over the next couple of years as you go forward to see how it makes you feel. Then we'll decide if it's safe.
