Encouragement!
Congratulations to anyone that has been able to quit and also to anyone that is even considering quitting. It Is Possible!! Anyone can be a Non Smoker!! It is not easy, But it is possible.
I smoked 1 1/2 to 2 packs a day for over 35 years and I am celebrating 1 year of being smoke free. I utilized Chantrix and the Chantrix program with the recommendation of my Doctor. It was not easy especially the first and second days. After the first day, every day got easier and I immediately started to feel better which was very encouraging.
My best advice is to have a support group of friends, change your behavior and life patterns so you reduce the "triggers". Don't try and quit unless you are ready and really "Want" to quit. It helps to have motivation like children, a special loved one, husband/wife gir/boyfriend.
Good Luck and don't be afraid to TRY!
Just introducing myself

God and knowledge.
Follow God and God takes away addictions. God gives hope and desire. Also know that smoke stops emotions and taste. Which is digusting. Also you could replace cig with a favorite drink hopefully not alcohol. Plus people need a lot of liquids. And somtimes food. Overweight women live longer. And a lot sexier.
Sorry about my poor hurried english. Is there healthy buzzes? Dried broccoli is anti cancerous. Dried banana peels have dopamine. And healthy herbs are out there. Research is done. Smoke Free at last......
I have many times unsuccesfully tried to quit smoking. Varied methods, patches, and medications provided absolutely no results, just side affects. Although I was sceptical, I thought I would try one more time; I went to see Scott D. Nelson, Acupuncture Physician (www.acupunctureMKE.com)located in Greenfield, Wisconsin.
After thirty-five years of smoking and due to so many failed attempts to stop smoking in the past, I really had no real expectations; I just thought that I would try one more time.
Much to my surprise, four weeks after I started acupuncture, I stopped smoking. I continue to be smoke free and am so very thankful that I have found Scott D. Nelson. I was truly impressed at his understanding of my personal situation and his ability to help me understand that my smoking was a habit and an addiction, and helped me understand cravings and triggers. As a result, I have gained control over my mind and body, and my smoking addiction no longer controls me. Smoke Free at last......What a breath of fresh air!!!

Coughing after quitting
I am in the sixth week now,,,,,After 46 years on 1 1/2 packs a day,,,,, I have quit twice, 10 days the longest. So anyway this is the longest and I have anounced to everyone that I am no longer a smoker,,,,,. Chantix has been alot of help. Of all the systems,,,this one is best for me. I had all the side effects even before quitting anyway. Under doctors care and an added staple in the ear,,,it is working great. I had quit taking the meds before, this time I am still using the chantix until the 12 weeks are over.
The problem I am having is the coughing up (gross) flim and can hardly spit it out. I was told by other quiters that this is normal, It is so gross I am ready to start soking again. I didn't cough when I smoked. Any answers will help.
Thanks, Jean
Smoking
I have recently tried to quit smoking and I am still going strong, been 9 days now, I know thats not much but its a start. I have smoked since I was 18 and I'm 25 now and I have wanted to quit for a long time. Even went a year and half in that time not smoking. I am currently using nicotine patches which i do find help the cravings allot but you still have to be very strong. I really want to get to a year without smoking as if I do I'll know ill never go back.
Freedom From Smoking is fantastic!!
The Freedom From Smoking Online program is fantastic!! I Smoked for 28 years, up to 2 packs a day at times. I had tried to quit more times than I can remember. I finally decided that quitting cold turkey on January 1st hadn't worked in the past so it was time to try something new. I found FFS while surfing the net. I checked it out and signed up in mid July, followed the modules, and set my quit date. I have been smoke free for a little over 6 months. The program is fantastic, it makes you look at your addiction and really see it for what it is. For the longest time I truly thought i smoked less than I did, but "pack tracking" opened my eyes and let me see just how much I was really smoking. The program also makes you look at not only how much you smoke but why, and when as well. with out these valuable tools I don't think I would have been able to quit. I did use Chantix, but only for about 2 weeks-I don't know if it was the Chantix or just quitting, but I was extremely irritable.
The people on the boards at freedom from smoking online are great- they have all been there or are right there with you feeling the same things, experiencing the same doubts. If you are really committed to quitting smoking you need to give Freedom From Smoking Online a try.
Quittig
"I want to quit" rather than "I have to quit" makes it much easier to do so. I, not someone pressuring me. Want to, rather than have to. This way I am happy at the end of the day rather than feeling like I did something I didn't really want to do. When someone else pushes me I tend to resist. Also I became angry with the tobacco barons and didn't want to support them monetarily in their effort to addict children. I am not only happy I quit, but interested in helping others to do so.
