Type II Diabetes

I was tested twice and my blood sugar level was 200-211 and my cholesterol was elevated. I am a 60 year old woman with no past health issues. I refuse to take any medication before looking at my diet and checking it twice. For 1 month, I ate fresh organic kiwis, cherries, blueberries and cantelope. Fresh steamed veggies, brown rice, yams, sunflower and pumpkin seeds. Beans and split pea soups.Grilled chicken and steamed salmon. In my morning coffee I added 1/2 tsp of cinnamon every day! It got boring but.....my blood sugar just came back at 67. DIET WORKS. So folks, do your research and keep your kitchen full of good foods. "Your Health is Your Wealth'.

Self-prescribe

Generally, doctors don't emphasize this stuff nearly enough. There are several reasons. 1) Many of them don't know 2) Drug companies and "outcomes bonuses" from the PPOs are "paying" him/ her to push prescriptions. 3) After you and "insurance" pay Doc for a $100 - $200 office visit, he/she knows you want more than advice to eat oatmeal, blueberries, flax seed, olive oil, yogurt and such.

THAT we could have done without the Doc, and that's a big point. We SHOULD do as much as we can with food and supplements and skip Doc as much as possible. The web is helpful.

So thanks to USNWR for this one. More, more, more please.
