6 Ways to Reduce Inflammation—Without a Statin or a Heart Test

I agree regarding muscle weakness & statins
To DAWK of CA:
I agree about the muscle weakness problem and statins. I have progressive osteoarthritis, as well as avascular necrosis. I had a shoulder replaced last May. I have some nerve/disk involvement in several areas of my spine and avascular necrosis is now appearing in my hips. It is imperative I keep moving, and I have to lose at least 20 pounds. I stopped taking statins a couple of years ago after becoming aware of the muscle weakness issue as well as increased heart attack RISK, regardless of what it does for your cholesterol. I have not taken Crestor. However, I recently purchased a recumbent stationary bike to exercise, since walking is not recommended for me. I walk up and down 3 flights of stairs daily, yet my leg muscles are immediately and severely fatigued within a minute of my starting to exercise, at the very lowest tension and speed. And it's my muscles, not my joints, where I am experiencing the problem.
I am very glad I resisted continuing taking statins. I am working on my cholesterol with diet, and I hope bike riding for exercise.
My physician is not happy with my decision, but I don't think she is in the pay of "big pharma" - I think like most physicians she is conservative, she is looking at evidence created by the mish-mash of AMA/Big Pharma/HMO-Medical Insurance/Government and accepting the information, and prescribing them fulfills her commitment to do what her medical group practice wants her to do to keep her position.
It is now the era of having to be an informed consumer about all services you use, medicine no less than reading labels in the grocery store. Because like in the grocery store, it's all product and buyers and sellers. Medicine knows they are not going away. People are always going to need their services. And the definition of "do no harm" has shifted and includes "intentionally".
inflamation
information is needed on fighting inflamation due to weight gain or lack of certain vitiams ...fasting is helpful ......10 days on watermelon.....will clean the system of excess inflamation.
Inflammation Has a Specific Cause: FUNGUS
I agree conpletely with Lou Thoma.
Just Google:
"C-reactive protein" fungus
And there you will find the cause that modern medicine choses to ignore in excange for getting us all hooked on their profitable drugs. Also do some research and note that the originas of colesterol lowering are antifungals.
Comment
You are an idiot if think your concoction is beter than a statin.
c-reactive protein show any inflamation
My doctor was concerned about my c-reactive protein count, nothing could be found wrong with my heart to cause this.
After several months I had an emergency appendectomy (at age 60). My c-reative protein count has been normal since then.
Inflammation Has a Specific Cause
CRP is generated by the liver in response to inflammation. Any doctor worthy of that title, when confronted with a high level of CRP, would look for the source of the inflammation. Note that I am not a physician, just a patient, but that is my honest opinion.
Let me relate an example from my own recent experience. I had a general physical with lab tests in October of 2007 and my CRP had gone through the roof (a reading of 4.6). But other lab tests indicated the presence of a prostate infection. With a three week round of antibiotics, the infection was cured, and the CRP (when next measured in November of 2007) returned to a dramatically lower, very healthy, level (0.42 - a reduction of over 90 percent!).
CRP irritates the lining of blood vessels, causing small clots to form, which creates a target for plaque. The clots can also break off, resulting in strokes and other problems. Yes, it may be that in that situation, lowering cholesterol could reduce the depositing of plaque on the walls of the irritated arteries. But why would anyone other than a pharma-influenced doctor want to do that rather than addressing the root cause of the high CRP? Did you know, for example, that there is a study showing that "those with cholesterol levels between 91 and 135 were 6 times more likely to have Parkinson's?" (see http://www.yourmedicaldetective.com/public/754.cfm).
Giving statins to a patient with high CRP while doing nothing to lower the CRP itself seems to me like giving a patient with a broken leg a wheelchair without setting the bone. So why would anyone fund a study having such a ridiculous premise? One clue may be the following information from the Web site findingdulcinea.com (see http://tinyurl.com/statinsindrinkingwater), which states that "Patients in the study took a drug called rosuvastatin, which is made by AstraZeneca under the name Crestor. The pharmaceutical company also funded the study." The same article also mentions that "When it was announced, AstraZeneca’s stock price rose in London, according to Bloomberg."
Even if you have high cholesterol, there are safer ways to lower cholesterol than taking statin drugs. For example, as part of a treatment unrelated to cholesterol, I ingested a concoction every night that contained a rounded teaspoon of psyllium husk and seeds (heavy duty fiber). After 8 months of this, I found that my cholesterol (already low from an excellent diet) had gone from 174 to 152. That is a reduction of over 12.6 percent. Furthermore, that reduction was almost entirely from LDL (from 113 to 86), while HDL went down only from 47 to 45. Isn't that better than taking some statin drug with a raft full of admitted side effects (just read the accompanying brochure)?
In my opinion, this is just the latest and perhaps most outrageous example of a profit motive interfering with the proper care of patients. We need a complete reform of healthcare to wring that aspect of it out of the equation

How about suggesting using rice oil to cook and make salads with-it has been documented to lower cholesterol and it is an easy switch. Also, flaxseed oil helps. Making smart eating choices makes a big difference.
