Zetia and depression

After pravastatin 80 mg failed to reduce my total cholesterol from 220 my cardiologist put me on Zetia in July. I have experienced clinical depression since August and realized I haven't felt right since starting the Zetia. I did a search and discovered that depression is a possible side effect of Zetia. Why was I not warned of this?

Statins and memory loss

I have to change to a generic statin according to our drug insurance plan.

I was on Lipitor 20mg. The generic I am to try is prescribed at 4 times that dose, 80mg.

Since I had already noticed some memory loss on the Lipitor, I am concerned about the high dosage of the generic.

I realize I need a Statin. But am very concerned about the effects of the increase in dosage. I noted in many articles that generally the physicians prescribed double the dosage when switching to a generic.

I can't find solid information on the Statin effects on memory. Many articles say it is not a concern because no long term testing has been done.

That answer does not make me comfortable.
