Preventing Aortic Aneurysms

The best prevention for aneurysms is to follow a healthful lifestyle including:

  • controlling blood pressure
  • stopping smoking
  • maintaining a healthy diet low in saturated fats
  • participating in regular aerobic exercise.

Prevention of a rupture and/or dissection of an aortic aneurysm includes taking beta blockers, avoiding heavy weight lifting, and repairing the aneurysm in addition to the recommendations above.
