HEALTH CARE REFORM

If what we have been using is so practical why are we, the richest nation in the world, at least so far, having such poor grades in costs and well being of our people. Strange that the Congress who is sworn to represent us is not doing their job, but rather is cowing to all the money the HMO's are filtering into ads, and lobbying and our Congressmen who seems to have forgotten what ethics means. This should NOT be a bypartisan issue. This is an American issue. I have worked in the healthcare field for many years and have seen the waste and repetetive tests and unnecessary refusal of care. It is shameful that our reps and senators allow such behavior in this nation. We cannot afford Not to install a single payer system and set up regulations to prevent waste, and yes, corruption when our country has been brought to its knees already. Sen. Kennedy has been working for healthcare comparable to our nation's strength for 40 years and even his power in the Senate has not brought about a satisfying health care change. Let's honor our nation and a man who has given his life for our well being and let our nation have the best health care in the world.

Let’s score this SECRET, KEY and GAME CHANGER first, CBO !

Let’s score this SECRET, KEY and GAME CHANGER first, CBO !

The House leaders reached a deal on Medicare payments: A "Pay for Value" reimbursement system that rewards doctors and hospitals that achieve the best outcomes at the lowest cost.

As a result, The House gained a lot of votes, a lot of people who were withholding support.

The federal Medicare program insures some 44 million elderly and disabled Americans at an annual cost of $450 billion, almost one-fifth of total U.S. health care spending.

Supporters of the agreement say it could save the Medicare System more than $100 billion a year and improve care, that means $1trillian over a decade. (Please visit http://www.kare11.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=820455&catid=391 for detailed infos)

The Times in a July 7 editorial argued “As much as 30 percent of all health-care spending in the U.S. -some $700 billion a year- may be wasted on tests and treatments that do not improve the health of the recipients,” Thus the remaining $239 billions over a decade do not matter.

No one can disagree with this best outcome / evidence-based system, and private insurance, too, will be greatly influenced by this change with the focus on value over volume. !

Dr. Armadio at Mayo clinic says, "If we got rid of that stuff, we save a third of all that we spend and that is 2.5 trillion dollars on health care. A third of that and that is 700 billion dollars a year. That covers a lot of uninsured people."

THANK YOU !

what showdown

what showdown are we talking about hear. at the last count the dems have a overwhelming majority, in which they just dont need republican support. however if the bills were actually well written, clear and concise there would be a vote ASAP. however its the democrats who are now asking how much is this going to really cost. i work as a health insurance broker (www.nyhealthinsurer.com) and its not that people dont like the current plan options its the cost of the care thats staggering. though who believes the fed govt is actually capable of controlling heath care costs?

health care

just what this country needs more idiots like you.I'm tired of seeing republicans in congress trying to put there moral views on the rest of the world. Guess what you lost becauser you put an idiot in office, now the rest of us have to pay for your mistake. can bet the house on it. Obama will win again

The perfect should not be the enemy of the good

This spring, due to the demand decrease, the highest fuel price came down below $40 per barrel, though, the 'similar' insurance premiums still go on rising, which may imply that health care is not optional, but essential, and the inaction could bankrupt family, business, and government beyond this recession, as all across the board agree.

Earlier, the revised HELP BILL with the public option and employer mandatory has got a green light from the CBO, yet still, a new 'incomplete' analysis of emerging House legislation said it would increase deficits by $239 billion over a decade.

But, CBO does not score any savings from prevention / wellness and the rest, even as Prevention / Wellness is an actual and essential part of the savings, without which the reform would be meaningless.

And I think the other things such as increased productivity / consumer confidence, 'potential stem cell effect', 'decreased mental stress', and 'massive job creation', 'stock price effect' and etc considered, the reform might be within reach. Most importantly, a few years later, if the excessive war and military spending goes toward the health care program, the cost issue does not matter at all, I think.

Edward M. Kennedy argues, the perfect should not be the enemy of the good, "Everyone won't be satisfied and no one will get everything they want. But we need to come together, just as we've done in other great struggles in World War II and the Cold War, in passing the great civil-rights laws of the 1960s, and in daring to send a man to the moon. If we don't get every provision right, we can adjust and improve the program next year or in the years to come. What we can't afford is to wait another generation."

Due to the cost

How can anybody expect vibrant economic activity / JOB CREATION ( faulted by the non-alternative naysayers to distract a series of scandals ) and housing boom in the context one in two Americans say someone in their family skipped pills, postponed or cut back on needed medical care due to the cost ?

Thank You !

Reaganite republican of, CA

Your comments are the absolute truth. Obama truly hates this country and must be stopped!

The recovery of middle class

Let me be clear the current world-wide recession most likely resulted from the concentration of capital toward a few, thereby revived middle class and consumer confidence would be a key to vibrant economy activity and employment as the money does not evaporate.

Basically, If ruling party changes, accordingly so does tax system , especially given the condition that the middle class is undergoing severe financial hardship as a consequence of the extremely high fuel price, mortgage rate, and insurance premium, which is a beauty and virtue of democracy as we know.

In case some people have enjoyed the benefit of exemptions, that might imply others have shouldered the equivalent of their share.

Now the time has come for the middle class and middle class-oriented party to take initiative.

In general, advanced states are characterized as a broad base of middle class, the recovery of which is what the last presidential election is about as the California budget crisis demonstrates the severity in collapse of middle class and tax decrease.

Alongside a tax on the richest, alcohol tax and ending subsidies for the private insurers can be considered to mitigate the amount and resistance, I guess.

How can anybody expect vibrant economic activity and housing boom in the context one in two Americans say someone in their family skipped pills, postponed or cut back on needed medical care due to the cost ?

Thank You !

Health Care Insurance

1. CAN WE LET THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT DICTATE ANOTHER FEDERAL PROGRAM THAT THEY WILL EVENTUALLY SCREW-UP? THEY DID A POOR JOB WITH THE POST OFFICE AND THE VETERANS HOSPITALS AND SOCIAL SECURITY, NOW WE WANT THEM TO PENALIZE THE AFFLUENT AND THE SMALL BUSINESS OWNER.

I DO NOT WANT TO LIVE UNDER SOCIALISM OR SOCIALIZED MEDICINE.

2. THOSE THAT NEED MEDICAL HELP GET IT ANYWAY- NO ONE IS TURNED AWAY AT ANY HOSPITAL BECAUSE THEY DO NOT HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE, EVEN ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS.

3 LET EACH STATE HANDLE ITS OWN CITIZENS -- NOT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. THE STATES WOULD BE ABLE TO PROVIDE A CLOSER ACCOUNTING AND LESS "RED TAPE" HANDLING CLAIMS.

4.THE HEALTH INSURANCE PROGRAMS AND INSURERS COULD REDUCE COST OF INSURANCE OM THEIR OWN WITHOUT LOSING MONEY -- WHY DOES A PODIATRIST NEED TO ORDER A CHEST X-RAY?

Typical Obama Prevarication

This guy will never, I repeat NEVER say to your face what he actually plans to do- instead you get some styrofoam facade... just like his tacky greek columns at the DNC. The revolutionary ends justify the Alinskyite means for this anti-American, two-bit Bolshevik scam artist.

So it's "heck yeah, you can keep your old insurance if you like it"- that is until Obama bankrupts the provider with his Federal soon-to-be monopoly with access to almost-free capital. Same as Cap-n-Tax, this is primarily a power-grab with a healthy dose of Soak-the-Evil-Rich, all under the cover of public benefit... just like he used to do it with Rezko back in Chi-town.

I am so sick of watching this kook take a wrecking-ball to the country we all love... and just because of Obama's lifelong hatred of America. Why should we all give-up the greatest nation in history... and to his warped "vision" because he had a bad childhood was raised by far-left freaks?

This Obamacare needs to be STOPPED COLD- it's a horrible bill.
