Ovarian Cancer and Hormones
I would be interested in knowing the types of hormones being replaced. The article says from "regardless of formulation, dose, progestin type" as describing the types of products used. There is no mention of whether they were manufactured or compounded. My expectation is that they were manufactured and used progestins and not progesterone. This is critical to know since the progestins do not possess much of the protective nature of true progesterone and place the patient at higher risk for blood clotting and other untoward effects. It is impossible for most women, and practicioners to make valid decisions based upon incomplete reporting of this data. The term "regardless of" is not descriptive enough other than to create controversy.
