Other suggestions

Putting a board between your mattress and box spring will do nothing but make your bed a few inches higher. This is an old wives tale that mattress manufacturers all agree will do nothing to change the feel of your bed and could have a negative affect on the wear of the bed.

Furthermore, sleeping on a firm mattress (most people translate this to mean hard) will cause pressure points ,specifically in her shoulders and hips, especially for someone who will spend more time in bed. It would be a better suggestion to use a firm mattress with pressure relieving foam on the top allowing the expecting mother to rest with proper spinal alignment in one position for a longer time.

I do work in the mattress industry and I hold no medical degrees, just 10 years of helping people get a better nights sleep.
