Why I don't seek the help and treatments I need

I have no medical or prescription insurance. I was recently approved for Social Security Disability payments. When I applied to the State of Nebraska for Medicaid they said my husband and I make too much money. My husband is unemployed. Unemployment insurance in this state is not all that much.

I have Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Major Depressive Disorder. I do have some prescription medicine. I NEED things like aquatic therapy, medical massages, a therapist, etc but I won't be able to get these things until I've been on SSD for two years.

If you're looking to move to this state, be prepared for a terrible Department Of Health and Human Services. Very little money is allocated to help people get the services and care needed. A District Judge here is fining NE HHS for each day that they are not providing the appropriate care for a child that the judge ordered the HHS to place in a residential treatment facility SIX months ago. They just don't care.

Chronic Illness and afraid to seek help!

Dear editor,

I don't think this is just a latino problem, I feel this affects all of us suffering from any Chronic Pain disease such as Adhesive Arachnoditis, MCTD, MS or any other severe pain issue.

I know myself I don't seek out treatment such as Biofeedback because I can't due to the cost. I have CIGNA and my co-pay is 1,500 and then it goes to 80/20. The psych. at Duke asked if I had Medicad and I replied No and she then stated what insurance I had and I told her. She told me it would cost about 3-4,000 thousand dollars out of pocket.

I told her forget it we can't afford that. If you don't have medicad I noticed that even the Hospitals won't see you! They have refused to treat me, due to the payment plan I had asked to be set up on.

I agreed to pay 25.00 a month AND THEY STATED no!!!

iT IS SCARY WHAT IS HAPPENING IN OUR HOSPITALS AND DOCTORS OFFICES. NO ONE WILL SEE U HERE IN NC UNLESS YOU HAVE MEDICAD. MEDICAD IS GUARNTEED MONEY IN FULL FROM THE GOVT. MINE INSURANCE HAS TO BE APPROVED AND THEN I HAVE TO MAKE PAYMENTS. SO GO FIGURE NO ONE WILL SEE ME OR HELP ME, SO THAT IS WHY PEOPLE AREN'T GETTING HELP!

Sincerely,

Paula
