I have been using first Crestor 10mg and lately Pravachol 20mg statins. THe reason I switched was the fatigue feeling I developed using Crestor. I did a test myself, I stopped using it for 3 weeks and I felt much better. The doctor recommended me to use Pravachol. Initially I felt much better but after using it for 6 months the fatigue came back with a vengeance. Many times I went to bed 7 or 8pm just to wake up 12hrs later as tired and fatigued as the day before. It became worse to a point that most of the weekends I slept all day.
I tried to combat it with excercise as I thought that lack of physicaly excercise could cause this but that did not help either. I am going to the gym 4-5 times a week and do cardio for 30 min and in the weekends I tag on other training but it all does not help. I have again stopped Pravachol now for 2 weeks and I feel reborn. I know at least 2 other people around me who have very similar experience. Do not try to tell me that statins have no effect on fatigue, believe me they have big time.
It probably would help that physicians didn't get a kickback from big Pharma to get a more honest feedback or really listen to patients on this.
I believe that the best way to go is control your diet and do sufficient excercise.
