How I Sleep Better

I am an extremely light sleeper with occasional bouts of insomnia, but have been able to sleep better virtually every night using earplugs, a sleep mask, a sound conditioner (white noise machine) and blackout liners. I’ve been using these things for 20+ years and can’t do without them. Google “bucky sleep mask” or “marpac 980" (the most popular sleep products) or visit http://www.thecompletesleeper.com, which carries this kind of product.

insomnia

Yeah, you said it, and I said it, too-- it's all there in my book INSOMNIAC, written from the first person, by one who's lived it as well as written it...

Yes, insomnia impairs mood, performance, functioning, health, and just about everything in a life. And yet we do find ways of living with it, as I learned from the insomniacs I interviewed for my book...

I'm glad this article did not go on to give the same-old well-worn rules we hear all the time, keep a regular sleep schedule, never use the bed for anything but sleep or sex, etc, etc-- useless, really. The truth is, it's not well understood why some people sleep so much worse than others. The truth is, insomnia doesn't get nearly the serious research attention it deserves. Something that inflicts this much misery on this many millions should be a top research priority.
