Asthma

Dr Palfry points out the increase in astma, then blames it (along with other items) on parental smoking. Beg your pardon, but smoking has been on the decline since the 1964 Surgeon General's Report and subsequent, extensive campaigns to curtail tobacco use. If there is any correlation at all, it's that smoking helps prevent asthma!

I truly doubt that that assertion is true, but want to use it to remind us all to constantly challenge "accepted wisdom." To do otherwise is to become sheep--and be prepared to be sheared.

C-sections

There wasn't any mention of c-sections increasing a risk of Asthma in children. There has been studies showing that children born via c-section are almost 50% more likely to have asthma or allergies. My youngest son, the only one of my children born by c-section is the only child in our family with asthma. Doctors should do more to prevent c-sections.
