My pregnant diabetic sister
My sister is 28 years old and 26 weeks pregnant. She has been
insulin depandent since she was 2. I know the risks of pregnancy to her and the baby, but after she has the baby,
what are the chances of her developing diabetes? My sister,
sadly, is not taking good care of herself and she hasn't for
a long time and I'm trying to learn everything I can
because it has just become apparent to my husband and I that
we are going to end up raising the baby because even if Lydia
survives she may not be able to provide anything for her
daughter and I do not feel that she will be a fit mother if
she continues on the way she is(she is in the ICU on an insulin
drip right now because she has diabetic keto acidosis(sp?) and
we're all surprised because her dr wanted her to keep her
blood sugar between 60-80 and she said she had. Anything
you can tell me or any links you could provide woudl be helpful
because I know less than I should about a condition my sister has. Thank you.
