Honey as a Beauty treatment
After chicken-pox I had discoloured scars that were proof of the viral ilness. However after heeding my father's advise to apply honey to those scars, I was blessed with a clear complexion since the discolouration soon faded and my skin not only acquired a fair vitality but also a smooth texture. My complexion and facial radiance is still the talk of the town 17 yrs later!!!
Honey as cure for Diabetes
In many African villages pure honey is used to cure diabetes!
STRANGE BUT TRUE!!!
Manuka Honey
Yes, of course some caution should be used, there is some very good anecdotal evidence of people using the right type of manuka honey, and further studies are ongoing, and there are some people who can be allergic to bee products. Anecdotally about 10-15% of people using the honey on a wound experience a stinging sensation, and for a few people this can be severe enough that they need to stop using it.
It is also very important to make clear that not all manuka honey is the same. Only some of it contains the extra antibacterial properties that make it useful for healing. The industry recognised trademark for manuka honey that has been tested is UMF®.
You can see some examples of UMF® manuka honey at www.NewZealandHoneyShop.co.uk
In other countries such as the UK and in Asia, there is now quite a problem of substandard and ordinary manuka honey (without or with minimal antibacterial properties) being sold and being misleadingly promoted. If people are wanting to use it on a wound, then it is better that they use one of the sterilised product options now available.
Hopefully more publicity like this will encourage further studies to be done.
Other natural remedies to use with honey...
I am familiar with this report, and would like to add... I have had great by also making a poultice from a combination of turmeric powder and aloe vera. Turmeric will help stop bleeding ulcers, and also helps heal the affected area.

Honey as wound treatment
As an experiment I tried this on a cut on my finger. I applied the honey and bandaged it, not removing the bandage for three days. When I took it off, I could see the wound closing. I continued treatment for about 1 week, and now have no scar at the site at all. It is certainly worth a try
