Quality measures. Nursing homes have to furnish the latest three quarters of clinical data showing the status of each individual Medicare and Medicaid resident in 19 indicators, such as the percentage of residents who had urinary tract infections or who were physically restrained to keep from falling from a bed or a chair. The Best Nursing Homes rankings and Nursing Home Compare display data for each home on all 19. The ratings, however, are based on 10 that are considered the most valid and reliable, such as the two above and measures related to pain, bedsores, and mobility.

Good ratings or bad, CMS is adamant that they are only a place to start. Nothing substitutes for in-depth visits, when you can ask questions, observe residents and their families and caregivers, and sample the look and feel of a home. "There are many satisfied residents and families of residents in nursing homes...at the one-star level," states an FAQ posted on the CMS website. And the FAQ emphasizes that "no resident should be moved solely on the basis of a nursing home's ratings.... [Transferring] your loved one to a facility that has a higher rating should be balanced with the possible challenges of adjusting to a new nursing home." That is one of many hard truths about finding a home.

Nursing Home Crimes

Here's the evidence posted on my blogsite they killed my mother and four other patients after we complained to local, state and federal agencies:

Nursing Home Crimes

Continued from above/below.....

Dr L Scott Stoney stated he quit due to the lack of response from management and called the Attorney General's office Bureau of Medical Fraud & Elder Abuse to report them. Sun had a state injunction not to understaff or have broken equipment from 2001. They knowingly violated this injuction and killed five patients I was familiar with. That amounted to zero punishment for this corporation who reward themselves with million dollar salaries while killing elderly for fun. They should be in prison.

I've asked the Grand Jury and Orange County District Attorney to indict Richard K. Matros for manslaughter / obstruction of justice and perjury just last week.

Nursing Home Crimes

Sun Healthcare Group Inc killed my mother, Evelyn Calvert, from the inaction of their CEO in late 2003 in a Sunbridge facility in Newport Beach, California. Rick Matros, CEO, sent his employee Julie Campbell to apologise for harm done to her in Oct, 2003. In 2006 he passed on threats to me in mediation through my corrupt attorney, to get me to sign off on a charge of fraud, having dropped the serious charges of wrongful death and elder abuse while I was distracted with a pancreatic precancer surgery. When I recovered 7 mos later I sued Daniel Leipold for malpractice. He died 2 wks after learning I'd retained those attorneys. I won that lawsuit in 2008.

Dr L Scott Stoney stated he quit due to the lack of response Attorney.
