pediatrics
Why was there no category for pediatrics - Pediatric Children's Hospitals should not automatically fall under their larger hospital affiliation. Children's Hospital of Pennsylvania (CHOP)'s endocrinologists should be at the top of the list, not lumped in with UPENN overall.
UVA Health System
I think that the UVA Health System should have made the Honor Roll. Seven years ago this upcoming year I was a patient there and there aren't enough words to tell you how impressed I was at how well I was cared for.I'm as impressed now as I was then. Thank you for your time.

Nurses
The comments on nursing care are right on target. I think the patient's perception of a hospital's worth is very closely linked to the nursing staff. I had both the best and worst nurses at the same hospital here in Arizona following the fourth in a series of operations I had four years ago. The worst was in recovery--she was extremely annoyed with me every time I told her I was in pain or needed to go to the bathroom. She was more interested in reading and chatting with staff. Once I was in a room, I was extremely ill, and my family couldn't be there. The nurse assigned to me stayed with me for long periods, comforted me, rubbed my back, held me while I retched my insides out, returned numerous times to see how I was doing, called the doctor to let him know what was going on. I will be eternally grateful to this wonderful lady for her professional, caring attitude. I have not had better care in any hospital in the US, not even one of those mentioned as being in the top 10. A great nurse is worth her weight in gold, in my opinion, and a top-notch nursing staff has much to do with a hospital's worth.

nursing care
From a dual perspective, as a nurse and as a patient, I appareciate your attention to nursing care. It is probably as important to recovery as competent medical/surgical care. As a patient I have experienced more poor quality care than good care...it seems some of the basics have disappeared...no oral care, no bed baths, no clean sheets, no toilet paper, poor attention to medications, very poor hand washing, poor attitudes, and paucity of appropriate level staff. I have noticed also that more time and effort is spent dealing with computerized records...(which I support)...a four hour computerized admitting process is ridiculous.
U of m
Am a nurse at university of Michigan hospital, and I believe U of M they deserve to be in top ten, why? Just talking about my unit SICU it's unbelievable how much effort and care we give to our pt. We treat them like a family and my management they are welling to come to work any time any day in a matter of minutes if there is any issues or need for them, and there very supportive to the staff, pt. And families. I love university of Michigan and I will alaways do fir ever, specially SICU.
Mayo Clinic
I am currently at Mayo Clinic with my mother... My father and I are VERY HAPPY with the care we have received from the nurses and the doctors... She was in our local hospital in Rock Island, IL for a month. We come up here and 16 hours later we had answers and they know what the cause of her health issues are. She has had pancreatis for 5 weeks, she was very sick and weak. Our local hospital couldnt figure out the cause. We were here 16 hours and had all kinds of answers and solutions... The gallbladder was the cause and it needs to come out..
