Best Hospitals Honor Roll

U.S. News analyzed data on 5,453 medical centers to produce this year's 16 specialty rankings. Only 170 hospitals were ranked in one or more specialties and, of those, just 19 were of Honor Roll caliber. To be in this elite group, which rewards breadth of excellence, a hospital had to achieve high scores in six or more specialties. The order is based on points—a hospital earned 2 points for ranking at or close to the top in a specialty, 1 point if ranked slightly lower.

2	Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn. 28 points in 15 specialties
3	Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, Los Angeles 25 points in 14 specialties
4	Cleveland Clinic 25 points in 13 specialties
5	Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston 24 points in 12 specialties
6	New York-Presbyterian Univ. Hosp. of Columbia and Cornell 22 points in 12 specialties
7	University of California, San Francisco Medical Center 21 points in 11 specialties
8	Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston 18 points in 11 specialties
8	Duke University Medical Center, Durham, N.C. 18 points in 11 specialties
10	Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia 18 points in 10 specialties
10	University of Washington Medical Center, Seattle 18 points in 10 specialties
12	Barnes-Jewish Hospital/Washington University, St. Louis 17 points in 11 specialties
13	University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers, Ann Arbor 14 points in 9 specialties
14	UPMC-University of Pittsburgh Medical Center 13 points in 8 specialties
15	Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville 12 points in 7 specialties
16	Stanford Hospital and Clinics, Stanford, Calif. 10 points in 7 specialties

Pedi Heart Surgery in CT

My Son was diagnosed at birth with a CHD. He had a hole three fourths the size of his heart wall . He went 3 weeks later to Bridgeport Hospital ER not eating, blue and barely breathing in congestive heart failure. Dr. K. Berkwitz (His cardiologist ) sent him via ambulance to Yale New Havens Children's Hospital. My son and I, stayed at Yale a week and we were taught how to administer all his new medications. Dr. Fahey was our Dr. and he was amazing. Four weeks later, we had gone past the point of medication, and needed surgery. Dr's Kopf and Mellon did Robbie's open hear surgery. The staff all remembered us, I was able to be with my son night and day never leaving his side and he was treated like a VIP! Which, to me he is. He was home like a whole new healthy chicd 4 days post OP. I owe everything to those Dr's and will be forever grateful. I tell my son, now 4 all the time that the Dr's fixed his broken heart, and he fixed mine. This coming Wed is Robbie's four Year Heart anniversary!

I live in Houston Texas, have relatives in Phoenix,Arizona and Cleveland,ohio so which would be the best team for me?

Best Hospitals

Well, this was certanly useful. We weree going to go to Mayo Clinic in Arizona, now i think we will go to Johns Hopkins Hospital. Does this list include teaching Hospitals?
