Change your career course, or if nothing else, please, please go into research!!!!

I don't care HOW smart you think you are, or HOW critical your actions are, it takes NOTHING to be civil, NOTHING!

So get over your degree (that you don't have yet) and bring to the table the humanity and compassion necessary to practice medicine, or think again about what you really want (six figure salary maybe?)

Discrimination

Unfortunately, the very methodology which is supposed to provide data to allow patients to make informed decisions about where they should seek the best care, is probably causing hospitals to discriminate against patients who may require a higher level of skill to achieve positive outcomes. My son has needed an MRI for 6 years. Doctors have stated that if he were not autistic, he would have gotten one easily, but they continue to deny him one because they say the sedation with an autistic can be risky. They repeatedly beat me up for bringing him into the ER and constantly pressure me to have him placed in a psychiatric facility. He has symptoms and blood work indicating a brain tumor. I don't think they're equipped to deal with that in a psychiatric facility. The hospital that has refused him treatment for the last two years is on the US News and World Reports "Best" list. In fact Duke uses it on every TV ad, webpage, and print ad they take out. They're the Best as long as it's easy.

Why don't you rank hospitals for Infectious Diseases programs?

With the swine flu outbreak, AIDS, and the major focus on reducing hospital-associated infections such as MRSA, Clostridium difficile, and others the fact that you do not rank hospitals for their Infectious Disease programs stands out like a sore thumb.

Why not? Strong infectious disease departments are essential to the functioning of great hospitals and they are invaluable community assets, especially when problems like the recent swine flu pandemic arise. It seems obvious that this is a specialty you should rank.

Refusal of Service at Mayo Clinic Scottsdale

I have been a patient at Mayo Clinic Scottsdale for about 18 years. It has been my primary source of medical care. On June 15, I called my primary doctor of more than 10 years, Bruce

Kimbel, M.D.and spoke to his secretary about a medical problem

I had been experiencing. She told me a nurse would call me back

that day. After 3 days and no call, I again called the office.

I was told I was no longer a patient of Dr. Kimbel's because I had not seen him for 3 years and without any notice to me I was

dropped. I had been at the clinic to see a Cardiologist, Dr. Lynch, and for testing within a year; I also have regular Dermalology tests at the clinic. My husband is also Dr. Kimbel's patient and I accompanied him to Dr. Kimbel's office within the last 30 days. He has suffered with cancer and heart problems in the last 2 years and I have spent a lot of time going with him to both the Clinic and the Hospital. I faxed Dr. Kimbel but I have not received a reply. I requested to be reinstated by the Primary Care Department and was told no and referred to the Patient Liaison Office, Cheryl. She told me that because of their policies, waiting lists, etc. they were never going to have the capability to take me on as a patient in Primary Care. That would mean there from now on there would be no change in patients because of transfers or deaths. No openings? I think Mayo Clinic patients and/or potential patients should be aware that they have this policy. I was never notified of the 3-year policy. Part of my decision to

move to Scottsdale was to use the Mayo Clinic and Hospital.

Now, at 68 years old, they have refused me medical care. The

primary doctor is the one that orders testing, does referral to

specialists and, in general, oversees your health issues. I have four existing drug prescriptions that have been renewed by

Mayo Clinic. Interesting enough, I looked at Mayo's website

on the same day I was denied service and they offer information

on how to become a Mayo Clinic patient and they did not mention

the unavailability of Primary Care Physicians. Do you think the

fact I am on Medicare is significant? Do you think I am experiencing age discrimination? Some uninformed patient could be relying on receiving medical care for a critical situation

only to be denied service at their time of most critical need.

Has anyone experienced this situation?

emergency care

I took my woman child to the emergency rm on 5-17-09. She has a very delicate situation and the staff in the e. r. rm was fantastic, her doc Doc. Boggs, is a very gentle and caring doctor my woman child (daughter) is very leary when it comes to her care, she was very comfortable and i did not feel uncertain about leaving her in their capable hands, she didnot stay over night but the staff in the e.r. room was very professional and caring. we were in and out in a reasonable amount of time the wait was not long and we had television to watch in the room. I want to thank St Francis for caring about the people that they come in contact with even the janitor was nice and he had just started his shift at 11:oo p.m., also the lady who took her time to show me where the vending machines were and she was just getting off of the clock.

Once again i want to say thank you for caring.......MY HATS OFF TO ALL OF THE EMERGENCY STAFF. DR. BOGGS...YOU ROCK.

I cannot believe it

As great as our medical center is (and growing) in Houston Texas, I simply cannot believe it did not make the cut in the top 20's as some of the best medical hospitals in the nation. Who does these survey's anyway?

Cedars vs. UCLA

I fell off a bike and broke my arm. It was a severe break and I received emergency care at UCLA where I am an undergrad student. This was a Friday. They promised to get me back in on Monday to see an ortho surgeon because it needed surgery and it hurt very much. I was on pain killers all the time. Although they called on Monday, UCLA would not schedule me to even see an orthopedist for a week. And I am one of their undergrad students! A friend called Cedars, had a next day appointment and surgery in 2 days when they implanted 7 pins and screws to stabilize my arm. I had a private room, a great doctor and nurses. The staff even called my parents on the east coast a few times to let them know what they were going to do and when and then followed up after they were done. My arm was fixed and I was out of the hospital before my own school would make time to even evaluate my arm. So things worked out better for me at Cedars and I just cannot get over the fact that they treated one of their own students so shabbily. I did a little research after and the UCLA infection rates are quite a bit higher than Cedars.

Bascom Palmer in Miami Fl./ Ophtalmology

I am a recovered patient, treated at Bascom Palmer in Miami Fl. I have to say that the care was superb, specially under the circumstances that my condition presented. A severe case of a recurrent eye retinal detachment at 27 required a lot of work, and it was succesfully treated at Bascom Palmer. I am really happy that I was lucky enough to live very close it at the time. I give 5 stars to all aspects of their practice
