Without a doubt Autism deserves significant attention from the medical community and the new administration, attention that is long overdue. However, much more attention needs to be given to all the other health problems as well. If we consider all the other diseases and disorders that people are suffering from it is questionable at least whether a one-malady-at-a-time strategy can solve our nations health care crisis. There are too many other health problems equally in need of attention. Another aspect of health care in the United States which our President has no control over is the choices people in the private sector make regarding what charities to make donations to in the fight against certain diseases. Many wealthy people set up charitable foundations for the fight against diseases that they or their family members are afflicted with. I wish they would consider whether they should wait until a particular disease attacks one of their own before they do something about it. If everyone who has the means would give something to help conquer all diseases whether or not they have affected their own family it seems likely there would be far fewer health problems facing Americans and the rest of the world.
