I know a lot of girls in my high school are pregnant there are over 17 that are not of the age of 16 it a sad thing to say but all of them want an abortion but i look at it this way if you PLAY you PAY and if it rape it differrent you need to report it most don't so BE SMART!!!!1

Everyone I know is getting pregnant.

I live in Utah, and I am myself a pregnant teen. It seems that everyone I know and used to associate myself with is now pregnant. Even girls with very religious families are pregnant. I don't know what's going on, but there are some strong hormones in the water here or something.

A teens thought

As a teen i know the pressures that a girl goes through for sex in high school. You feel like you need to do it to be popular or fit in. But in my opinion sex is a gift from GOD that is meant to be for a husband and wife. If we waste it now than it will lose it's speciallness. When i ge tmarried onmy wedding might i don't want to have to worry about if my future husband could have an STD. But in the society we live in today i have to. Its a sad sad thing but i WILL NOT even give my self the opportunity to get in a situation to whre i will nbe pressured to have sex. This is a choice of mine and i stand by it no matter what.

I wonder?

I wonder what the abortion rates are for those states with the lowest teen birth rates? They do look like liberal or blue states with the exception of North Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska and Utah.

How do we fix the problem?

janbd of MS claims that abstinence will not solve the issue. How can that be? If you do not have sex with someone, isn't it very hard for a girl to get pregnant? Abstinence is the only way for teens, like myself, not to worry about STDs and pregnancy. Does that mean that all teens are going to stay virgins until marriage? NO! But if adults, doctors, and friends started pushing for abstinence, we are only allowing the problem to continue. Condoms and birth control pills are really just signs that adults really don't care about what is happening. Those things are flawed just as everything else man makes. And if abstinence is not the way to go, how do we fix this problem? I can't think of any.

But what about the children that are produced by teens? Abortion is not a moral option since it does not give the child (or the medical term fetus) the right to life. Also, is it the fault of the child that Susy-Q and Billy-bob were fooling around after prom? Parents and teachers, espicially parents, need to start showing how hard it will be to become a young parents without a real job. When a two teens make love to each other and one of the results is pregnancy, the two kids have a responsibility now for the child they had helped bring into the world. And if abstinence is not the way to go, how do we fix this problem? I can't think of any.

Yes, I am a Christian, but I'm sure some of you pro-choice advocates and others had some snide comments or insults to say about me before I even mentioned my religious affiliation. I know some of you may think I'm being judgemental. But if telling others that it is a sin against God to have pre-marital sex is judgemental, then yes I'm judging you. But there is forgiveness for all people who sin. God forgave David after he committed adultery with Bathsheba. God forgave Peter even though he denied knowing Christ three times. God forgave Paul after he imprisoned and approved of the killing of Christians. God forgave the disciples who deserted Jesus after He was arrested. And if God can forgive them and myself, surely He can forgive you as well.

Mississippi leads the nation in teen birth rates and the majority are unwed. I can vouch for the truth in this having worked in Labor and Delivery for over 30 years. Many are having their 2nd or 3rd by the time they're 18. One year our first baby of the new yr was born to a never-been-wed 23 y/o having her 8th or 9th baby. The sadest thing about this is the fact that granmothers and great-grandmothers are raising these kids. There are no male figures who are good role models in the homes, eventually the street corners and gangs are the hang-outs for these kids and from there (if they live long enough) they are in and out of the penal system, becoming absent fathers themselves, and the wheel keeps turning round and round. Abstaining from sex is a naive, foolish, useless message for teens. Prevent pregnancy. At one time a 5yr implant came out. Everyone thought it would be the answer. Then just as quickly, it was off the market. Kids won't take BC pills, get IUDs or use condoms - when they're doing " the wild thing" (as I've heard it called), the last thing they are thinking about is a crying baby at 3AM to be fed, babies crying all night with colic, and changing dirty diapers.Abstinence just WILL NOT WORK.
