Nursing Home

It is just so sad that this is the way we treat our elderly, who have paved the road of the current America we live in. As if living through the Great Depression and WW2 wasn't enough, now they get treated like prisoners in their own bodies at a nursing home. My grandmother lives with me and will never go into a nursing home, even if it means me taking on another job to pay for her care.

Nursing home Nightmares

I have been a nurse for 7 years. Most of my experience has been in LTC,nursing homes.Working in a nursing is like a punishment.Nurses have 25 plus patients to care for, overseeing staff and dealing with family members.CNAs are stretched to the limit. They have 12 plus patients. Most patients in this type of setting are total care. Most patients only get cleaned and changed once a shift. Some dont even get fed because there is too many to feed and not enough staff. This is not care. This is a nightmare. All I can do is pray for the patients and their families.

So What???

What is the point of a government nursing home rating system, when the government is inept at mandating improvements in the facilities? Everyone can't get into the higher rated facilities.

Co. are thinking about money Not the real care

I am a nurse. I have been since 1973. The quality is suppose to be better. Thats not true. Iam in afacility thats 132 beds. My job is suppose to give good care. I have 22pts. *8-Gbs 8-Insulin.Than meds up the yeang.Yang.Meal thats served @5-30 Pm. There are people that need to be fed, not much time for this.Manny narc to give out. Nursing assts you can not find .The acuity level so high ,the nursing asst. are run to death. They are Paid 7-8 dollars an hour. This is heavy work.Demming work. They needs to be the same system as in the hospital. The need- verses the amount of pts.you are suppose to have.Than admition up the wall. Good care, thats a joke. The state demands the care but it,s all on paper. Not good guality of care. When a pat. ask to be toiletted and no one can get to them for almost an hour ,They than need to be put in a hoyer lift. This is major time. Good care ,this is a real joke.

This is totally useless information unless you plan to move to another state for care.
