They must have been searching google with blinders on when they wrote this study.

[Teens who drank the most sugary soft drinks also had more mental health problems such as hyperactivity and distress...

Their study...showed a clear and direct association between soft drink intake and hyperactivity...]

You have to realize that studies that find no linnk between sugar intake and hyperactivity are usually funded by companies like General Mills who have a very vested interested in the results.

The media and journalists are what scare me the most. Whatever happened to integrity? Or is it just stupidity? You would think they would be a little more careful with what they write, especially about something so important as your health. The day America stops taking health advice from the food industry (food pyramid) and the media is the day we are all a lot better off.

food coloring

What they didn't consider is that scientific studies have shown food coloring, the kind typically found in "fake" juices and candies does cause hyper-activity in children. They proved it by adding dye to carrots. Maybe it's not the sugar itself, but everything that goes into the junk kids eat.

Hardly US "NEWS" or "WORLD REPORT"

"Researchers" of the sugar "study" came to conclusions after consulting google (Google? Really? Come on.) and a supposed study that doesn't document numbers of people involved in the study or amounts of sugar given.

It's frightening that this would even be considered worthy of a headline. It's disturbing how media and news companies are getting farther and farther away from reporting facts and statistics and instead give quotes and opinions.

Dio...think before you berate

I think the comment about tax dollare was speaking about the funds going to pay for the research, much of which does come from tax dollars. Are you angry for a reason, or just bored and indignant?

Not very scientific

What a silly study. Every single physician knows the transport of sugars into you cells by insulin increases mitochondria ability to produce ATP thus, increasing your energy or making you more alert or 'hyper' if you ingest too much. I think it is cute that the students are getting these sudies published.

Seriously.

News

This news is owned by a media company called US News & World Report (maybe you've heard of this privately owned company?) instead of by the government. Government controlled news would be socialistic, you moron.

Baloney

Tell that to my sister who goes completely psycho if she's had too much sugar. I know too much makes me jittery. And if my son has too much he gets a bit hyper.

I hope my tax dollars aren't being spent for this BS.
