Vitamin C Myths
The article claims that adding extra vitamin C will abet in the progression of cancer. This statement is wrong. The article fails to even mention any of the work done by Linus Pauling. Vitamin C in amounts in very large amounts (and by that, I mean 6g or more) will help fight cancer and diseases. However, this article is referring to "large amounts" of vitamin C as a few hundred milligrams more than the RDA recommended dose of 60mg. Please, I highly suggest that you read How to Live Longer and Feel Better by Linus Pauling. It is a bit old, but the research that he presents is still relevant, and experiments past the time of publication of the book do not contradict his claims. If you want the full effects of vitamin C, you should probably take around 500mg to 12g of the vitamin a day, depending upon your needs. If you have certain illnesses like asthma, fibromyalgia, allergies, and/or many other conditions (see his book), then higher doses of vitamin C would be beneficial for you. If not, you still may benefit from 500mg to 1g of vitamin C a day. I am not too sure about vitamin A, but I think 5000-1000 IU is safe and beneficial for maintaining good health (especially good for eye sight). Vitamin B should be taken as a 100mg Super-B vitamin to get all the B that you need. Vitamin B is very beneficial to keep a well functioning nervous and immune system in order. Not to sure about vitamin E. I take 2000 IU of vitamin D a day, and it has helped significantly with my respiratory function.
If you are an adult, take a lot of vitamin C. I would not recommend going overboard, but 1g-8g should be safe for most people in good health. In bad health, take more. As a cofactor for enzymes that do help in fighting off pathogens, more vitamin C will only help. The great thing about the B vitamins and vitamin C are that they are water soluble. Excess of these vitamins are flushed out in urine, so an overdose of B or C is virtually impossible. Please read the Linus Pauling book that I recommended. He was a two time noble prize winner, physicist, chemist, biology, author, and much more. One of the smartest people to live in the 20th century, I would highly doubt his claims, especially with all the evidence and explanations that he gives in his book.
Vitamins
We need vitamins, but in quantities that you get when eating average servings of fruits and veggies, whether they are depleted because the soil is poor or not is a different issue and does'nt make that much of a difference. Staying away from toxins, eating organic fruits and veiggies to keep you clean, and keeping garbage out of your body is the most important, including eating to much food! It doesn't matter what it is. Period! The ONLY thing that has been proven to increase longevity and decrease disease is a low calorie diet...because the more people eat, the more free radicals will be created and the EXCESS fat storage prevents your body from functioning normally and you die sooner than later...but if you want to indulge in a little ice cream once in awhile, well, there's one thing for sure whether you take vitamins or not...you're definitely going to die...so enjoy each day and go to bed as though you might not wake up...and don't drink chlorinated water...only drink pure water, it's cleaner!
What a joke...
This has to be one of the dumbest most ill-informed articles I have ever read about vitamins and supplements. To present them as dangerous or something that most people do not need because of how much food we eat is preposterous. Most of our foods, even fruits and vegetables, do not contain very many vitamins and minerals anymore. Fast food contains virtually nothing, as does most processed "food", and the soil is so depleted that an orange has only a small fraction of the vitamin C that it once did. Vitamin C, for example, does a whole lot in preventing many diseases when taking a quality form in the thousands of milligrams a day. Long story short, this bogus article would have you believe vitamins are dangerous while drugs and processed foods are fine. Don't believe this garbage. I supplement, eat organic when I can, and avoid processed and genetically-modified foods when I can, and I have gained much health. I virtually never get sick and feel great! Don't listen to these liars - do your own research! Quality supplements are concentrated nutrients that the body needs for a whole host of life-giving, health-maintaining functions. Centrum and most "basic brands" of supplements are not quality supplements. Additionally, the vitamin E and selenium spoken of in this drug-pandering nonsense of an article were SYNTHETIC, something that is not mentioned in this article. Natural vitamin E and natural selenium, as is found in Brazil nuts for instance, is perfectly safe and is excellent for maintaining prostate health. Anyway, there are so many areas to address but for the sake of time, I urge readers to do your own research and don't listen to the attacks on vitamins and supplements. There is a wealth of information out there that the drug pushers do not want you to know about. Research it.
Multi Vitamin is always a good thing
To say Americans are amply fed (glutton is a better word) has nothing to do with "well nourished" since most fast food restaurants lack the majority of vitamins a person requires. We may not be suffering from scurvy, but a closer look at the rates of obesity, heart disease, cancer and the number of people on prescription medication should be a clue as to how healthy we Americans are. Any doctor who advocates against certain vitamins is a fraud, or certainly has his own agenda (take my pills, that's all you'll ever need to cure your problems). Prescription medication is the real danger, but you don't hear doctors advising against it's use. But soon they'll tell us exercise is bad, but I'm sure they'll come up with a pill for that one as well.

Vitamin supplements
In all likelihood, the only vitamin supplement that should probably be used by virtually everyone (from newborns to nonagenarians) is vitamin D (specifically D3), because of the very well-documented and widespread vitamin D "deficiency and insufficiency", worldwide, including the U.S. These contribute to an assortment of diseases and disorders which comprise a large portion of our health problems. It has been estimated that an adequate daily supplement of vitamin D would literally prevent many thousands of deaths in the U.S. alone, and would quite significantly reduce our expenditure costs for medical care.
An adequate daily dose of vitamin D has not been determined, but current studies in the medical literature demonstrate that the dose for a given individual will vary, according to age, race, residential latitude, body weight, diet, and exposure to sunshine. It appears that a minimum of 2000 i.u. per day is most likely appropriate for adults, and some persons may require substantially higher amounts.

Vitamins Notes and Good Health to ALL
After 64 years of taking vitamins mostly capsules I have found that liquid vitamins are a more consistent and more absorbent solution than the capsules for me anyway. After several weeks I did notice a better alertness and get up and go when I switched.
But you have to be careful with your discovery and never gulp more than the specified amount as this will result in an over dose that might not be recognized. Have you ever heard of liver spots. Usually indicate an over dose of vitamin A, a blood and liver cleaner vitamin. Too much is toxic and will leave liver spots on you as it over reacts. Most and I would say 99% of nutrition can be learned by oneself from a little research and trial runs.
I am not exactly an expert but at 64 I do have credentials like never being sick in over 40 years from what I attribute to a good work out schedule of the heart pump muscles and a good diet with a sufficient amount of supplemental vitamins to round out my diet and yes sleep too. You have to do all of them for it to work for you. And No you won't and don't have to look like muscleman Charles Atlas to be healthy.
I can't pick out any specific vitamin as they all work together to form an immune shield that balances out your body's PH level or its acidity level which germs cannot live in. Much of this comes from the Vitamin C drinks and fruit (My Favorite). I don't know if vitamin C will work on everybody and get my results like taking 1000mg chewable for a tooth ache has worked for me many times.
Also for mouth cleaning be sure to use the liquid gargle before brushing (Listerine Multi-action works for me). Then brush them as the brush won't get to the germs or bacteria as good as the gargle rinse. And I have got to tell this also.. don't use your tooth brush like a saw. I brush in gentle circular motions that don't grind off the enamel surface like it did when I was a kid. Every spot you grind off will get stained and will be a real pain to cover up when you get older like DadO here.
The PH or acidity level in blood is a component used to extract and route the bloods platelets(dead skin cells), red cells, white cells, eocentifils, staff.., bacteria, unclean serum, out of the body to the kidneys or intestines to be voided. Sort of like the oil in an engine or like car gasoline when used expels a toxic exhaust sort of like a human does, Ha!
Also, no body talks about this topic as a natural way of life but you don't want to keep the toxic waste in your body longer than 24 hours. Avoid enemas if possible and substitute exercise like a jogging/walking machine in front of the TV with a juice drink in one hand and the TV changer in the other.
Vitamins are sort of like having a giant balanced meal that supplies all your nutrients. To complement good health with vitamins is a plus plus if you do it with exercise, a balanced diet and a little walking or an excuse for going too the mall in your area. Ha!
Enjoy - Jeff
