Personal Responsibility

People keep talking about the role of "personal responsibility" in our nation's obesity epidemic. Well 66% of the population did not just suddenly lose all their so called "personal responsibility". As few as 20 years ago, there was NO obesity epidemic. The obesity epidemic is a sign that there is something very, very wrong with our nation's food supply. As further proof where ever American food is exported, formerly healthy populations become sick just like us. This article does a good job of explaining some of the problems with our food supply but I suspect the problem is much deeper and more sinister: that an ingredient in these processed foods is overwhelmingly responsible for our problems and that the food industry knows what it is. The best thing anyone could do for their health is to avoid processed foods at all costs.

Low Calorie and "Lite" food shopping

When trying to be calorie concious in buying prepared foods, be carful of those food label banners that advertise low-calorie, or lite, etc. These foods are NOT the bottom of the calorie food chain among prepared food, it simply means there are fewer calories than their "original" product. These foods can still take up a great proportion of your overall daily recommended calorie intake.

Love this article

The book Crazy Makers elaborates on this topic extensively. I suggest anyone interested in this topic read that book as well.

EVERYONE HAS GONE CRAZY ABOUT CALORIES AND DIETS!!!

Gee, everyone has gone crazy! Meat is dangerous, bread is dangerous, sugar is dangerous, even more sweet fruits are dangerous! That's right - everything that does not taste like paper is dangerous, and people live in fear of everything and in constant stress! Listen, if these scientists knew how world really works, they'd be saints, and not scientists! They change their opinions like weathercocks, one day something is dangerous the other day it's healthy! And people live in fear and don't ENJOY life! What is life for if you try to get rid of all things that make you glad??? WAKE UP!!!

Applesauce has Fiber

Applesauce does have fiber because it is cooked apple.

Sucaine Abuse

The number one factor in most of this is sucrose (which I call "sucaine" because of it's addictive qualities), which is one of the most highly processed (and therefore dumps right into the blood stream -- hence, sucaine) products in food (and other substances).

It is what addicts children to candy disguised as 'cereal,' and has another factor involved as to why it is the major ingredient much loved in processed foods: Sugar is the cheapest additive by volumn to add to food to increase the bottom line.

And don't trust any "studies" which have received any funding from "food" companies. There is a vested interest in funding studies that 'happen' to find results which vindicate your product. Like the one that actually found that sugar 'increased nutrition' a few years ago. [Can't tell you who funded that one, because I don't want to be caught up in litigation for years.]

Marketing is evil. It exists to rob and eventually kill us all (WOW!)

The majority of what passes for food (nutritionless junk at best, chemically produced diease time bombs at worst) these days requires marketing to pay for the cost of processing and even the marketing itself (so companies can get back a return on their investment, rob the consumer of their money and their health).

People are constantly being manipulated into parting with their resources for an image completely fabricated by commercials that are perpetuated by the media. If it's being marketed, it's probably a fake reality you can literally 'buy into' for a price.

The full price isn't as obvious as the immediate 'rewards' of all the promised fun. Think a little further, obesity isn't the only danger in your future. Diabetes, cancers and dental decay are fast on the heels of those same resources. Think of where to buy fat (yeah fat not big, bigger or large) people clothes, diet pills, medical supplies, types of cancer treatments, you might want to look over your dental plan too.

SHUT UP. Take responsibility for yourself. Stop making excuses. BE an actual grown up. Use some common sense. Too busy? SLOW DOWN. Schedule less and plan more carefully, thoughtfully, strategically intelligently.

Turn off electronic gadgets. Take a walk WITH your family rather than exercise with Wii.

Too expensive? Snack healthfully on apples, bananas or raw almonds instead of chips and candy. Use a reuseable bottle to carry water instead of purchasing dyed sugar water. Read a library book instead of renting or going to the movies.

Take up a hobby, use your imagination. Improve yourself, today.
