Who are you picking in the super bowl?

whoa...no way..

embryonic all the way. don't even think about putting that needle there.

For men only?

Well, at last, some health care that is male-oriented. Leave it to the Germans: they are fine engineers, and will no doubt take the lead in this research area, because they have a healthy respect for the lives and health of men. The fact that we can avoid embryonic research all together, and focus on the long term health of men into the bargain, is a huge benefit. I am sure that some female-oriented research benefits will derive from this, but there is no doubt that male testicular tissue is quite accessible and will lead the way for this entire research area. I would be very interested to see if the same benefits can be applied to women as a result of examining female tissues, but they are somewhat more difficult to access, I would imagine.

wow

i think that stem cells are ok

Testicular comparable to embryonic stem cells

This is definitely a very interesting discovery. If testicles truly have those pluripotent cells then 'hey folks each of you are worth more now'!! who wants to have a heart made out of testicles, lol?

Testicular Stem Cells

LOL! I know this isn't supposed to be funny, but men have been avoiding responsibility for birth control for decades because vasectomy is "too painful" and condoms "don't feel natural".

Women, on the other hand, have been getting tubal ligations, which are actually riskier and more invasive, and using birth control pills which can cause cancer and blood clots, because they are the ones who get pregnant.

Now men will probably legalize embryonic stem cell research just so they won't have to get them from their testicles. Guess you just have to hit people where it hurts, right?

too much pain

I read that the cells are harvested with a syringe to the testicles.

Testicles

Well leave it to my goverment...while they are cutting my balls off..at least they have an alternate plan...restore my heart..keep me living longer so they can squeeze so more out of me..

Adult Stem Cells

I don't understand why there isn't more in the news about what's going on with adult stem cell research. There are currently over 73 conditions being successfully treated with adult stem cells--even using the patient's own stem cells. It is so amazing what can be done. This research and the successes they are having should make the controversy over ESC moot. Besides I haven't heard of a single successful treatment produced from ESC research. In light of the successes with adult stem cells the push for ESC just doesn't make sense.

How do they harvest the cells. This certainly could help with the existing controversy. Please post more details.
