American trained Cosmetic/Plastic surgeon in San Miguel Mexico?
I recently had surgery in San Miguel, Mexico and I have to say I found the service to be professional and every bit as good as here except for about half the price (including all travel and stay expenses). I had been wanting to have surgery for quite some time but could never justify it and when the current crisis hit even less!
Honestly, when I first started thinking about the possibilities of surgery in Mexico I was a bit worried, especially with everything you hear on the news. But then I found this website of a Doctor based in San Miguel who was US trained and had written several papers made me feel more at ease. I spoke to his staff over the phone who seemed professional and well informed. They organized the whole trip for me including airport pickup, accommodation and even a spa treatment. I would recommend to anyone considering surgery that they should first do the right research and if everything seems right, then it could be a very good option... At least I found so.
For anyone interested the name of the clinic is Alba and the website is albaclinic.com

My trip to Thailand
I had a good experience getting a Lap band procedure done in thailand. Initially I was a little apprehensive but once I landed at the hospital, the experience turned out really well. The doctors were very professional and the infrastructure was impressive. I took help from folks at http://www.thaimedihealth.com and they helped me arrange the treatment and stay in Bangkok. Its been 7 months now and I look great. I wish the doctors and the staff success.
Quality healthcare through Medical Tourism
I had the chance to see the health care facilities in some of the hospitals in India a few months ago. and i can confidently say that you can receive quality health care at affordable prices. i don't see why one should not get treatment form these hospitals.
The process is also very easy these days. you can register for a particular specialty in medical tourism websites like www.asiasmedicaltourism.com. These websites help you at every step of treatment. you can read content in the website before you decide to travel so that you get aclear idea of the treatment procedure and about medical tourism itself.
Re Dr. Sumozo
I have the same problem as he pointed
out, root canals failing under crowns.
However the treatment I got was in the
UNITED STATES. Americans simply
can't afford dental care here. Canadians ar
are even worse off with dental care much
more expensive than the US. Dental care
Is not under Canadian nationilized health
care. Dentists in Canada have an extreme
Sense of entitlement. Don't consider
Canada as a Dental tourism location
Denal Tourism- Word of advise
I am a practicing endodontist (root canal specialist) in Puerto Rico, trained at the University of Pennsylvania. I see many patients who have traveled to different countries in South America for "inexpensive" comprehensive dental treament. They typically have extensive prosthetic work (crown and bridge) permanently cemented in their mouth, with bad endodontic treatment (underlying root treatment). It all looks good until shortly after the work has been completed the root canals start failing, and the crown and bridge work has to be destructed in order to fix the problem.
The patients are then faced with a very difficult and frustrating situation: the "inexpensive" work now has to be redone.
Good quality crown and bridge work should last way more than 15 years. This inexpensive work ends up failing way earlier. Factors that may contribute to this may include:
1. TIME- Good quality dental work takes skill, but also appropriate time to be done correctly, not only to the dentist, but also to the laboratory that fabricates the prosthesis(crown and bridge).
2. Poor quality laboratory- The dentist diagnoses and treatment plans complex dental work. Some restorative work is done in the dentist's office, but the actual permanent prosthesis almost always is fabricated by a dental technician at a remote laboratory, following the dentists design/instructions. The materials used for this may vary; from metal alloys, to precious metals like gold, or all porcelain. The cost of fabricating the prosthesis, and charged to the dentist, in term paid by the patient, may vary accordingly.
The bottom line is, make sure you research enough about the dentist's training. Dentistry has come a long way from just pulling teeth due in part to the various specialties, especially in the United States and US territories, like Puerto Rico.
When possible, try to have a specialist treat you, especially when it comes to root canals. The roots of your teeth are, in many cases, the only support for your expensive/complex/beautifull dental work and represents the ultimate remedy to dental extraction, but it must be done right for it to last. Always ask to be reffered to an endodontist for your root canal work to maximize the longevity of your dental work.
Medical Tourism
I went to India last January through medjourneys and had the lapband operation. I also had Arthroscopy of the left knee and other diagnostic tests. The care I received was wonderful! I almost didn't want to come home. I saved alot of money and the support and help I received from Medjorneys was phenomenal.

TURKEY, A SHINING STAR IN MEDICAL TOURISM
Turkey, with its rich medical assets and a rigorous quality in medical care is set to become one of the shining stars of medical tourism. The state-of-the-art hospitals and high quality medical facilities have contributed the ever growing fame of the country. One of the primary reason that boosted the medical tourism in Turkey is the solid foundations of the training system. In Turkey, all of the doctors are subjected to a rigorous training process which does not allow the doctor to be entitled to execute his or her profession before he or she passes numerous exams and qualify for the internship. In brief terms, candidates need to ascend quite a lot of steps to qualify as doctors. Turkey is worth to be explored with its plethora of options in various quality treatments.
