A Christian Approach to Covering Healthcare

Of course you have to be a Christian to be eligible. That is the point entirely! It is a voluntary association of Christian believers: no one has to join, but those who do join must agree with the stated objectives, policies, and creed of the organization.

Why in the world would a Muslim want to join an avowedly Christian organization? He wouldn't attend a Christian church or earn a degree from a Christian college, so why would he join a Christian medical-expenses sharing ministry? A "young Muslim child" would never be eligible because his parents won't have joined. This objection is a straw man, designed to created unwarranted pity in the reader. The same applies to Roman Catholics: why would they join if they can't agree to the standards of the organization, including the statement of faith?

Applicants choose to join; the associations may choose to decline an application from a Roman Catholic, a Muslim, or a diabetic. That's freedom--on both ends.

Medi-Share is baloney

I just tried to apply for Medi-Share and because I am a diabetic, I do not qualify - period. Funny thing is I am well controlled, and have no other health problems.

What exactly is "Christian" about denying someone access because of an existing chronic illness that is well managed?

Shame on these fraudsters and shame on any organization accepting money from them to advertise this bad-faith use of the terms "Christian". These bums would have been thrown out just like the money changers using God's name to profit.

Bunch of Crap

Bunch of sanctimonious nuts...should someone REALLY feel secure about leaving their health insurance payments to a bunch of kooks that can deny their claim on "moral grounds?" PLEASE! Oh, that's expensive...um, God says damn you to hell! Claim denied! NEXT!

good option

With the terrible state health insurance coverage is in in America, I think more options are great. There are too many people that have insurance that are not adequately covered and get sideswiped by the coverage they have. This let's you know clearly up front what is and what is not covered, and they stay true to that, no hidden exceptions to coverage. If you are angry that you don't qualify with the requirements for this health coverage, take that up with a government that doesn't provide adaquate health insurance to it's tax paying citizens.

It Works!

My family, along with many other families I know, have benefited for years by these fine sharing programs. One comment asked about what happens to very large claims. Christian Healthcare Ministries has a program which covers needs above $125,000.00. I have friends who have had needs met into the high tens of thousands of dollars with every penny paid except the personal responsibility amount we all agree to pay first.

Having dealt with traditional insurance in the past I find this sharing system very satisfactory. I will continue to use it because it is by far the most efficient use of my health care dollars. Our family has experienced significant cost reductions by providers because we pay "cash" and they don't have to deal with regular insurance claim processes.

A second real value is the encouraging "benefit" of knowing others are concerned for your circumstances. I, for one, hope that we will always have the freedom ot use these programs.

What happens if some poor sucker falls for this scam & cancels their insurance policy, then suufers a traumatic injury or life threatening disease such as cancer? Is Medi-Share going to pick up the tab for medical bills that can ammount easily to hundreds of thousands of dollars or more? People like Dapice's pittance of a donation wouldn't in some cases even cover a prescription for a simple pain med. When regulators finally wise up, Dapice & his ilk will howl the Christian card, as they usually do.

Considering Dapice's own personal opinions & sermons, which many times are chuck full of anti- Catholic rants, venom & blatent bigotry directed at Catholisism, I doubt it. Muslims also need not apply. Too bad I guess if a young Muslim child is suffering. Only Christians according to Dapice's definition are eligible.

Like-Minded Sharing

I like the part about "They sign a pledge committing to squeaky-clean living: no tobacco, no excessive drinking, no illegal drugs. Sex outside marriage is verboten." Why should those who willingly live this way be made to help pay for all those who lack the self-discipline to do so?
