No affordable insurance!

I'm a single person in Texas, living alone & paying my own way with no medical insurance of any kind!. At $12.00 prhr (company said NO BENEFITS)with house payment with insurance,school & county taxes, utilities, basic maintenance for home & auto plus fuel then groceries how can I afford medical insurance.!! Thankfully I have not had a bad illness/accident thus far but who knows?

I tried negotiating with a dentist front office manager once about a $5,000 dental quote & she basically said "We are not in the lending business & you should go to a bank."

So I asked if I could just have certain parts of what they had quoted...she said NO! The cost is what it is & they felt it ALL should be done in that order!! So I said bye!.......

I once was told by the local hospital that I still owed them a balance & that if I needed further treatment I should find a doctor. Oh, it's a teaching hospital by the way that USED to be known for aiding low income but since I was born here, worked here,pay taxes for a lifetime, contribute to the city,county,schools & economy I am excluded....even an immigrant/illegal can get food stamps,healthcare & ???? Not a native born woking female with legit paperwork!! GO FIGURE!!

No Backbone

There is NO Way to design affordable anything if the cost is not controled first. Only the Federal Govt has the power to stand aganint the AMA, National Assoc of Hosp.,Drug Companies ect. A book of charges that can't be exceded will let EVERYBODY know what they can charge. It worked for medicare & it will work for the rest of the market if enforced. Don't listen to the screams from the providers. We've heard it all before. We've tried free market and the market has had it's butt kicked. Yes, the premiums will have to be collected in the form of a tax and yes it will have to be manditory and yes the coverages must be standersized and yes it may be socialzed health care. SO WHAT"S YOUR POINT? Please show us a plan anywhere in the world that has worked for everyone it could possibly cover, that wasn't operated by a govt. The providers AND the consumer may have to trade their Hummers in to pay for this coverage but so be it. As long as it's left to the consumer, they WILL opt for the Hummer or Lexus or Boat or

Mc Mansion and complain about the rest. We all will have to change the way we live.
